Basic facts about RA

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks and damages healthy tissue in the joints. This leads to inflammation (swelling) in these tissues which can cause pain. This damage can eventually lead to other parts of the body. RA is 3 times as common in women.

XELJANZ XR/XELJANZ in RA

XELJANZ XR (pronounced ZEL-jans X-R) and XELJANZ (pronounced ZEL-jans) are used to treat adults with RA when other treatments do not work.

How XELJANZ XR/XELJANZ works

Your immune system helps your body by fighting off infections and diseases. When you have RA, your immune response can be more active than it should be. XELJANZ XR/XELJANZ is believed to interfere with the activity of an enzyme called Janus kinase (JAK), which activates other cellular components that normally start the immune response in your body. By reducing the immune response, XELJANZ XR/XELJANZ reduces the signs and symptoms of RA.

Basic facts about PsA

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, which may include the skin and joints. This leads to inflammation that may trigger joint pain, stiffness and swelling, as well as symptoms such as rough, scaly patches of skin. PsA affects both men and women equally.

XELJANZ in PsA

XELJANZ (pronounced ZEL-jans) is used to treat adults with active PsA when other medicines do not work.

How XELJANZ works

XELJANZ is believed to interfere with the activity of an enzyme called Janus kinase (JAK), which activates other cellular components which normally start the immune response in your body. By reducing the immune response, XELJANZ reduces the signs and symptoms of PsA.

Basic facts about UC

Ulcerative colitis (UC) typically affects the colon (large intestine) including the rectum and anus. It is a chronic (lifelong) condition that is marked by inflammation and ulceration of the innermost lining of the colon, called the mucosa. UC involves periods of active symptoms and then other periods of remission.

XELJANZ in UC

XELJANZ (pronounced ZEL-jans) is used to treat adults with moderately to severely active UC when other treatments do not work.

How XELJANZ works

Your immune system protects your body by fighting off infections and diseases. XELJANZ is believed to interfere with the activity of an enzyme called Janus kinase (JAK), which activates other cellular components that normally start the immune response in your body. By reducing the immune response, XELJANZ reduces the sign and symptoms of ulcerative colitis.
