Uveitis

Basic facts about uveitis

Uveitis is a form of eye inflammation, causing redness, pain, light sensitivity, and blurred vision. It affects the middle layer of tissue in the eye wall (uvea). The condition can affect one or both eyes, and it can affect people of all ages, even children, but primarily adults between 20 and 50 years old. Possible causes of uveitis are infection, injury, or an autoimmune or inflammatory disease. Many times, a cause can't be identified.

ABRILADA and uveitis

ABRILADA is used to treat adults with uveitis and children with chronic non-infectious uveitis from 2 years of age.

How ABRILADA works

The way ABRILADA works is by binding to a substance called TNF-alpha (which stands for tumour necrosis factor alpha) and reducing the risk of inflammation and vision loss in uveitis. However, ABRILADA can also lower the body’s ability to fight infections, and taking it can make you or your child more prone to getting infections, or make any infection worse.

Taking my ABRILADA

ABRILADA is administered by injection under the skin, also called a subcutaneous injection.
